And So Is Noel Desiato in Doubt at
TheatreWorks New Milford

TheatreWorks is, as always, honored to have a gem of the regional stage, Ms. Noel Desiato of Sherman, grace its boards. You may recall Noel’s stunning portrait of Katherine Hepburn in last year’s Tea at Five and her chilling portrayal of Violet Venable in Tennessee Williams’ Suddenly Last Summer ...last summer.
She will be retuning this summer to portray Sister Aloysius, the authoritarian Catholic nun in our upcoming production of Doubt, directed by Alicia Dempster. She will be joined by an outstanding cast, consisting of J. Scott Williams of Brookfield, Jessica Alex of Washington, and Stephanie Jackson of Farmington.
You’ll get to read more about each of these dynamic and talented cast members in upcoming issues of "In the Spotlight."

Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, this Broadway classic introduces us to colorful characters who have become legends in the canon: Sarah Brown, the up¬right but uptight "mission doll," out to reform the evildoers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the nightclub performer whose chronic cold is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game.
Class size is limited and time is running out.

Do We Need Help? There’s No Doubt.
Would you like to get involved in the excitement of live theatre sooner than you ever thought? Well now you can. Right now. Our upcoming production of Doubt: A Parable is in search of a Stage Manager and Running Crew (basically folks to assist the actors backstage or run lights and sound up in the booth, along with other important tasks). It’s fun, it’s fast, and it’s much easier than you think. Experience is preferred but absolutely not necessary. Please email us at info@theatreworks.us to let us know if you - or someone you know - is interested. The sooner the better. Many thanks!

All The World's a Stage - TheatreWorks Opens The Fourth Wall on May 1
TheatreWorks New Milford is proud to announce its premiere of THE FOURTH WALL, a "comedy of redecorating" by Roxbury playwright, A.R. Gurney. The show opens May 1, at 8 p.m., for a four-week run.
Directed by Sonnie Osborne, THE FOURTH WALL follows Roger and Peggy, an upper-class, Buffalo, New York couple in the midst of a little crisis. Peggy (Beth Bonnabeau) has radically redecorated the living room so that all the furniture faces a large empty wall. The rearrangement gives the room the look and feel of a stage set, and begins to have a strange affect on the way they both behave. Faced with a big, blank fourth wall (the theater-world notion of the invisible barrier separating the actors from the audience), Peggy begins to suspect there are mysterious people--and possibly a much better, more exciting world--waiting for her just beyond the plaster.

TheatreWorks Wins Grant Award!
TheatreWorks New Milford is very pleased to announce its recent grant award from the Connecticut Community Foundation (CCF) in Waterbury. The $5,000 grant allows our board to continue to work with a non-profit consultant on a broad-based fund development plan. CCF has also offered the services of an advisor to work with our consultant.
The Board has great ideas for improving the facility to better serve our patrons, our artists and our students. We also want to find new ways to fulfill our mission of enriching the culture of our region by forming new partnerships and reaching new audiences, especially those who might not otherwise be able to take in the delights of live theater.
While we’ve been fiscally prudent with our operating monies so that we can continue to offer 5 high-quality productions per year plus a children’s theater program after-school and in the summer , we simply can’t improve and expand as we’d like without securing outside funding…..above and beyond what subscriptions, ticket sales, tuition and some annual donations allow.
The Board has been working since last fall with advisors from the Non-Profit Assistance Initiative of the Connecticut Community Foundation. We’ve completed a full assessment of our organization and, using those results, have nearly completed a strategic planning process that allows us to better organize our work and plan our future. We are committed to applying the same high standards to our organizational work as we have always brought to our artistic work. Partnering with the Connecticut Community Foundation has allowed us to take a good look at ourselves and re -commit ourselves to our mission of 40 plus years to serve the cultural needs of our region.
We thank them for their generous support and recognition of the impact the arts have on our communities.
