TheatreWorks Holds Casting Call for "Suddenly Last Summer" April 22 and 23, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
NEW MILFORD, CONN. (April 2, 2008) – TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking two men, ages 20-35, and five women, ages 20-65, for its upcoming 50th anniversary production of the searing Tennessee Williams drama, SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER.
The story centers on the events of the previous summer, when Sebastian Venable replaced his Mother, Violet, with young, sensual cousin Catharine as his traveling companion. It was on Catharine’s watch that Sebastian died and she cannot forget how — and why — it happened. In a fierce attempt to keep the light of truth from exposing a mother’s illusions and losing her son yet again, Violet has summoned a young neurosurgeon to erase Catharine’s memory of what may well have been the unspeakable truth of last summer.
SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER is under the direction of Joseph Russo of New Milford.
The auditions will be held at TheatreWorks on Tuesday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 23, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Southern accents are requested.
All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. The audition will consist of readings from the script. No appointments are necessary. TheatreWorks offers a stipend to all performers, technicians, and directors. For character breakdowns, audition sides, and directions to the Theatre, visit: WWW.THEATREWORKS.US.
Rehearsals begin in late May (usually Monday through Thursday evenings) with performances running from July 11 through August 2, 2008 on Fridays and Saturdays with a Sunday performance on July 27.
