Getting The Show on the Road Kill TheatreWorks Opens the Hysterical Musical Comedy 'The Great American Trailer Park Musical'

NEW MILFORD, CONN. (May 6, 2011) - On May 20 at 8 p.m., TheatreWorks New Milford will debut the outrageous musical comedy, THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL, with Music and Lyrics by David Nehls and book by Betsy Kelso. The show is scheduled for a five-week run.

Set in the fictional town of Starke, Florida, in the Armadillo Acres trailer park, THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL centers around regular guy Norbert (Michael Wright, Newtown) and his agoraphobic wife, Jeannie (Tracy Hurd, Brookfield), whose marriage is threatened by Armadillo Acres' newest resident - a hot young stripper named Pippi (Deanna Chorman, Danbury). This hilarious country-rock and blues musical about adultery, '80s nostalgia, spray cheese, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, a broken electric chair, kleptomania, strippers, flan, and disco is an absolute hootenanny of a show.

"We've got a great cast filled with seasoned actors, strong voices, and energetic dancers," said director Glenn R. Couture of Ansonia. "Combine that with characters like an agoraphobic wife who hasn't left her trailer in 20 years, a hysterically pregnant teen married to a gay Broadway dancer we never see, and an exotic dancer as the new kid on the block. You can imagine there's plenty of gossip, and laughs, to go around Armadillo Acres. Audiences are going to be breathless with laughter. I know we are and we've seen it night after night just in rehearsals."

"It's an outstanding production with one searing number after another, punctuated by superb comedic dialogue and fall-out-of-your-seat hysterics that, I guarantee you, will leave you wanting more," said assistant director Robin Frome of New Milford. "And it's satire done right...poking fun without hurting...when you arrive home, though, after the show, a quick shower may be in order. Armadillo Acres can get kind of grimy...in a good way."

The show's cast is rounded out by some of the region's finest actors: Justin Boudreau (Pelham, NY), Robyn Maitland and Ryan Reynolds (both New Fairfield), Elyse Jasensky (Danbury), and Abigail Nissenbaum and Beth Harvison (both New Milford).

In addition to Couture (who also designed the set) and Frome (who is also acting as Stage Manager), the production crew includes musical direction by Dan Ringuette (Torrington), choreography by Regina Sweeney (Mahopac, NY), and costume design by Renee Purdy (Watertown).

TRAILER PARK received its New York premiere at Dodger Stages on September 27, 2005. The New York Post called the play, "A delicious new musical. The joint is jammed and jumping with raucous laughter. It's like The Honeymooners meets The Best Little Whorehouse in Urinetown."
