Broadway Professionals teach at TheatreWorks This Summer Offering Programs for Kids and Teens

NEW MILFORD, CONN. April 21, 2013 TheatreWorks New Milford announces three exciting summer programs for kids and teens. A one day-only workshop, TRIPLE THREAT INTENSIVE will be offered by Broadway professionals Ben Simpson, Dan Micciche and Caley Crawford and Tony Award Nominee Robin DeJesus on Sunday June 9 from 12pm to 6pm. For just $165, students will experience a concentrated, rigorous and exciting program for singing/dancing/acting which will focus on style, technique and performance quality.

TheatreWorks Kids (TWKids) registration is now open for the summer production of YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN led by veteran instructor Amy Emke for children ages 7 to 14. Rehearsals will take place Mondays through Thursdays from 1 to 4 pm starting June 24 for four weeks, and culminate in performances for the public over the weekend of July 20. Tuition is $325.00 per student.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown poignantly brings to life an "average day in the life of Charlie Brown," made of up little moments picked from all the days of his life. From Valentine's Day to the baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in with the lives of his friends (both human and non-human) and strung together on the string of a single day. From the bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit evening.

Beginning on Monday July 8, rehearsals for TheatreWorks Stage 2 Teen program will begin for MAN OF LA MANCHA. The rehearsals will run from Mondays through Thursdays from 9am to 12pm until the performances on Friday Aug 9 and Saturday Aug 10. The program is under the direction of professional choreographer Robert Bianca and musical director Joanne Archibald. Tuition is $350.00 per student.

Man of La Mancha tells the story of an imprisoned Miguel de Cervantes, who gets his fellow inmates to enact the story of his novel,Don Quixote about an aged nobleman who declares himself a "knight errant" out to do battle for good and the love of a fair maiden. This is the classic Cervantes novel brought to life with music by Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion and playwright Dale Wasserman.

The TWKids and Stage 2 programs are specially designed for the respective age groups and focuses on the craft of acting, including vocal skills and basic choreography along with instruction throughout the process of mounting a production. This program inspires creativity, confidence and a sense of community through the exploration and practice of theatre skills.
