TheatreWorks New Milford Presents Free Staged Reading of One-Man Orson Welles Show

NEW MILFORD, CONN. (September 18, 2015) – On Wednesday, September 30, at 8:00 p.m., TheatreWorks New Milford will present a free staged reading of the play ROSEBUD: THE LIVES OF ORSON WELLES by Mark Jenkins.

The play, narrated by Welles himself, takes the audience through his childhood; his amazing life as actor, director, and producer; and his involvement with a host of celebrities, including William Randolph Hearst, Rita Hayworth, Nelson Rockefeller, and J. Edgar Hoover. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Welles' birth and the 30th anniversary of his passing. Actor Kevin Sosbe of New Milford will be portraying the role of the iconic Mr. Welles.

"I think the audience will enjoy the show because it's a great night of storytelling," Sosbe said. "There's inside information revealed, and it paints a more complete picture of Welles that most of us weren't aware. ROSEBUD follows his triumphs and tragedies and portrays Orson Welles with humor and humanity."

The cost of the reading is free, but reservations are recommended. Tickets can be acquired online at theatreworks.us or by calling the box office at 860.350.6863. Also, as part of TheatreWorks' fundraising initiative to install a new upstairs bathroom and coat closet, donations will be accepted, both online at theatreworks.us, and at the Theatre.
