TheatreWorks is thrilled to welcome the MASQUE Theatre Company for a limited engagement on August 7th, 8th, and 9th.

The internationally-renowned mask/movement troupe from Bethlehem, Connecticut performs original theatre pieces with special emphasis on the mask and puppet. The company has performed on four continents for over a million people since 1980.

Considering the universal phenomenon of masks, original vignette style theatre is created which reflects the timeless capacity of this ancient art form.

Mask, mime, movement, music, speaking characters, and the “never-knowing- what-to-expect-next” anticipation makes these performances an experience you will talk about long after you leave the theatre.

Larry Hunt, the Artistic Director of the MASQUE Theatre Company will perform two pieces with his partner dancer/choreographer, Adelka Polak: This World, the Next, and Then the Peach Orchard and their newest installment entitled, Blues, Blues.

Performances are at 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday, August 7th and 8th, with a 2:00 pm matinee on Sunday, August 9th. Tickets are $20. No subscriptions or passes accepted for this special presentation.

'Doubt' Rakes in Raves for It's Actors!

Noel Desiato, who scored a knockout with the critics and audiences in two TheatreWorks shows last season, "Tea at Five" and "Suddenly Last Summer," proves again that she is one of, if not the best actress in the region.” – Danbury News-Times

J. Scott Williams carries his own weight as Father Brendan Flynn…Delivering power-packed sermons, Williams had audience members making the sign of the cross whenever he did. That's how convincing he was.” – Waterbury Republican-American

“While Stephanie Jackson is on stage briefly, the revelations that emerge are shocking. With a brilliant demonstration of deference, she wonderfully portrays the mother of the young man Father Flynn has befriended. One can only hope this will be the first of many appearances by the actress on the TheatreWorks stage.” – Housatonic Times

Jessica Lea Alex's Sister James plays beautifully opposite Ms. Desiato and Mr. Williams as the discouraged and frustrated Father Flynn. Both are repeatedly lashed by Sister Aloysius' rhetoric, but Ms. Alex beautifully portrays the utopian ideals and enthusiasm of a new teacher.” – Housatonic Times

As Jamie Ferris of The Housatonic Times said, “Anyone who ever doubted the power of theater will not want to miss TheatreWorks' ‘Doubt,’ a passionate, pungent and thought-provoking drama that shows us that even in God's house, there are no easy answers.”
