Calendar Notice for ‘Man of La Mancha’ December 7 to January 5
NEW MILFORD, CONN. (October 24, 2018) – On December 7, TheatreWorks New Milford will open the classic musicalMan of La Mancha, by Dale Wasserman, Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh. Man of La Mancha is based on Miguel de Cervantes’ tale, Don Quixote.
We encounter historical author Miguel de Cervantes in prison, awaiting trial by the Inquisition. When his fellow prisoners try to take Cervantes’ belongings from him, including his manuscript, Cervantes proposes a trial in which he proves the merit of the manuscript through a reenactment, enlisting his fellow prisoners as characters in his play. Together, they tell the story of the aged Alonso Quijana who believes himself to be a knight errant, names himself Don Quixote, and pursues an obsessive quest to attain an impossible dream.
This production is under the direction of Francis A. Daley of Danbury, CT, the musical director is Morgan Kelsey of Bethel, CT, and the choreographer is Sandra Hernandez of New Milford. The scenic design is by Leif Smith and lighting design by Peter Petrino. The cast includes Fred Rueck, John Ponzini, Elizeth Brito, Roger Grace, Viv Berger, Morgana Watson, Peter Philip, Rob Pawlikowski, Marsha Prophet, Erin Walsh, Richard Chad Frey, Alex Vournazos, Nick Raines,and Lindsey Partelow.
Man of La Mancha runs Fridays and Saturdays from December 7, 2018 through January 5, 2019. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. on Fridays & Saturdays, and 2:00 p.m. on two Sunday matinees on Dec 23rd and 30th. Tickets are $30 for reserved seating. Students and Military personnel and Veterans with ID will be admitted for $25.00.
On Thursday, December 6th, Senior Citizens are invited to a free dress rehearsal at 8:00 p.m. Thursday December 13th at 8:00 p.m. is TheatreWorks’ Pay-What-You-Want night where you name the price of your ticket. Doors open on both Thursdays at 7pm and seating is on a first come, first served basis.

TheatreWorks has been awarded “Best Small Theater in Connecticut” by Connecticut Magazine (2017), Best Community Theater in Connecticut (2014), and is a recipient of the Northwest CT Arts Council CultureMAX Award. They are a non-Equity theatre company located at 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.
Parking is located behind the Catherine E. Lillis Administration Building at 50 East Street, New Milford.
