TheatreWorks Kids (TW KIDS!) Shakespeare Workshop For Kids “The Tempest” Begins October 19th

NEW MILFORD, CONN – September 24, 2014 – Registration is now open for TheatreWorks Kids (TW Kids) eight-week Fall Program, a Shakespeare Workshop of “The Tempest” beginning October 19. Instructor Amy Emke has designed a unique and exciting program WITH MUSIC for students ages 5 to 7 and ages 8 to 18, which will culminate in a final performance on Saturday December 13.

Younger students ages 5 to 7 will meet for one hour every Sunday and will be introduced to the fundamentals of drama and performance through a variety of theatre games and activities, utilizing music, props, puppets, and other materials for hands-on learning. They will focus on listening and cooperation skills and will also learn the vocabulary used by actors and directors when they create a production and will also learn the story of “The Tempest”, including learning short Shakespearean texts through song. Fee for this age group is $100.00.

Students ages 8-18 will meet on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays for 90 minutes each day, and will learn the fundamentals of acting technique through the use of theatre games and improvisations. They will become familiar with William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” through a variety of hands-on activities and explorations of the text. Voice projection, relaxation techniques, character development and scene study will be included as the students work on developing a production of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” including original music. Fee for this age group is $350.00.
