TheatreWorks Holds Casting Call for Noël Coward’s Present Laughter September 26 & 27, 2011

NEW MILFORD, CONN. (September 14, 2011) – TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking a cast of 5 men, ages 21 to 55 and 6 women, ages 21 to 65 for its upcoming Holiday production, Noël Coward’s classic comedy PRESENT LAUGHTER.

This classic audacious comedy by the legendary Noël Coward centers on Garry Essendine, a popular, pampered actor – modeled after Coward himself – busily making preparations for an extended overseas tour with his devoted secretary Monica. His plans are complicated first by Daphne, a beautiful stage-struck ingénue, as well as an absurdly eager and aspiring playwright, Roland Maule, who insist on his attentions. When his wife, his agents, and his numerous admirers arrive, Garry is hard pressed to escape what quickly spirals into a hilarious farcical game of cat-and-mouse. Typical of Coward’s sparkling dialogue and dazzling wit, Present Laughter was a smashing success in both New York and London with Broadway revivals starring George C. Scott, Frank Langella, and Victor Garber in 2010.

Auditions will be held at TheatreWorks, 5 Brookside Ave., New Milford (next to the CVS) on Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All auditioners will be asked to read from the script and should be prepared to show a broad range of voice intonations.

PRESENT LAUGHTER is under the direction of Beth Bonnabeau of New Milford. For more information and questions, auditioners may contact the Theatre at info@theatreworks.us or by calling 860-350-6863.

All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. No appointments are necessary. TheatreWorks offers a stipend to all performers, technicians, and directors. For audition sides, character breakdowns, and directions, visit: www.theatreworks.us/actors.

Rehearsals begin in October with performances beginning December 2 and running through January 7, 2012 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

TheatreWorks is an award-winning, non-Equity theatre company located on 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.
