TheatreWorks Holds Casting Call for Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park December 16 & 17

NEW MILFORD, CONN. (November 25, 2013) – TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking a cast of four men (1 age 20 to 35 and 3 ages 40 to 80) and two women (1 age 20 to 35 and 1 age 45 to 65) for Neil Simon’s Tony Award-winning smash, BAREFOOT IN THE PARK.

In this classic, comedic romp, newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter are proof positive that opposites attract. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer; she’s a free spirit. But they quickly discover married life is no paradise, having to endure a new apartment that’s falling to pieces, surprise visits from Corie’s overly protective mother, and the antics of their eccentric neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco. Paul doesn’t understand Corie’s impulsiveness, while she wants him to be more spontaneous. Maybe running “barefoot in the park” would be a start? BAREFOOT IN THE PARK went on to become iconic playwright Neil Simon’s first and longest running theatrical hit when it premiered exactly 50 years ago.

Auditions will be held at TheatreWorks, 5 Brookside Ave., New Milford (next to the CVS) on Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

BAREFOOT IN THE PARK is under the direction of Tom Libonate of Danbury.

Auditions will consist of reading from the script. All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. No appointments are necessary.
