TheatreWorks New Milford Holds OPEN Casting Call for ‘Man of La Mancha’ Sept 9th and 10th

NEW MILFORD, CONN. (August 27, 2018) – TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking 10  males ages 20 to 65 and 5 females ages 18 to 65 of all sizes, shapes, colors, and ethnicity who can sing and move well for their next main stage production of MAN OF LA MANCHA.  Actors should come prepared with a monologue and a song that they are very familiar and comfortable with.  Please bring music accompaniment or sing A Capella.  There will be flamenco and tango-influenced choreography used in  this production, experience in this style of dance is a plus. Also needed is a young woman (20 – 30 years of age) with belly dance experience.

Auditions will be held on Sunday September 9 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Monday September 10th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at NEW MILFORD METHODIST CHURCH, 68 Danbury Road, New Milford, CT.

The director is Francis A. Daley of Danbury, CT. Musical Director is Morgan Kelsey and Choreographer is Sandra Hernandez.

Man of La Mancha  is the story about historical author Miguel de Cervantes who we encounter in prison, awaiting trial by the Inquisition. When his fellow prisoners try to take Cervantes’ belongings from him, including his manuscript, Cervantes proposes a trial in which he proves the merit of the manuscript through a reenactment, enlisting his fellow prisoners as characters in his play. Together, they tell the story of the aged Alonso Quijana who believes himself to be a knight errant, names himself Don Quixote, and pursues an obsessive quest to attain an impossible dream.

All roles are available, and both professionals and amateurs are welcome however please note that TheatreWorks is a NON-EQUITY theatre and do not offer compensation.

Rehearsals begin Oct. 15th typically running Monday thru Thursday, 7 – 10 pm. The play runs weekends from Senior night on Dec. 6th thru closing on Jan. 5th. Selected cast members should expect to portray multiple parts within the context of the play.
