TheatreWorks New Milford Announces Tuition Assistance for This Summer’s Teen Theatre Program Sign-Ups Going on Now; Program Starts July 21

NEW MILFORD, CONN (July 4, 2008) – Registration is currently underway for the THEATREWORKS STAGE 2 Program for teenage performers. This summer, financial assistance is being offered to two students through TheatreWorks’ volunteer credits program. For every hour of volunteer work, students will be awarded a $15 credit for helping the theatre with activities that involve onstage work, serving as ushers, and working backstage. Volunteer credits may then be applied toward up to half the cost of tuition.

TheatreWorks Stage 2 provides teenage performers with a deeper understanding and the skills necessary to further explore the craft of live theatre at a professional level. This dynamic program covers improvisational techniques, focus skills, and production study. Participants will work together to present a final performance – for the public – of more advanced scenes (or full one-acts, depending on class size and skill level) as part of this three-week summer experience. The Stage 2 Program is under the direction of theatre instructor Jackie Decho-Holm of New Milford.

TheatreWorks Stage 2 has a limited number of spaces for performers age 14 to 19 at $360 per student ($299 for siblings). The workshop runs for 16 three-hour sessions, Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., beginning July 21 and capped off with two performances for the public, on Saturday, August 9, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Students who have been through any TheatreWorks Kids Program , in 2007 or 2008 only, can gain admittance to The Stage 2 Program for only $330 ($299 for siblings).

For more information on these two programs, and to register online, please visit WWW.THEATREWORKS.US or call (860) 350-6863.

TheatreWorks is an award-winning, regional theatre company located on 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.
