Calendar Notice for ‘Proof’ February 16 to March 10, 2018

NEW MILFORD, CONN. (January 15, 2018) – On February 16, TheatreWorks New Milford will open their production of Proof, a drama by by David Auburn.

One of the most acclaimed plays in contemporary theater, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Proof is a witty and compassionate exploration of a young woman’s journey of self-discovery.

Having spent years caring for her father, a brilliant mathematician who suffered from devastating mental deterioration, Catherine wonders whether she’s now embodying his complex legacy…equal parts genius and instability. Proof was developed at George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey, during the 1999 Next Stage Series of new plays.

The play premiered Off-Broadway in May 2000, and transferred to Broadway in October 2000. It won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play.

This production is under the direction of Frank Arcaro of Roxbury and produced by Sonnie Osborne of New Milford. The cast includes Anna Fagan of Stamford, Daniel Basiletti of Brewster, NY, Carey Van Hollen of Southbury and Viv Berger of Middlebury.

Proof runs Fridays and Saturdays from February 16 through Saturday March 10. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. on Fridays & Saturdays, and 2:00 p.m. on the Sunday matinee on March 4. Tickets are $25 for reserved seating. Students and Military personnel with ID will be admitted for $20.00.

On Thursday, February 15, Senior Citizens are invited to a free dress rehearsal at 8:00 p.m. Thursday February 22 at 8:00 p.m. is TheatreWorks’ Pay-What-You-Want night where you name the price of your ticket.

TheatreWorks has been awarded “Best Small Theater in Connecticut” by Connecticut Magazine (2017) and is a recipient of the Northwest CT Arts Council CultureMAX Award. They are a non-Equity theatre company located at 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.

Parking is located behind the Catherine E. Lillis Administration Building at 50 East Street, New Milford.
