‘Man of La Mancha’ Opens at TheatreWorks New Milford December 7
NEW MILFORD, CONN. (November 28, 2018) – On Friday December 7, TheatreWorks New Milford will open the classic musical, Man of La Mancha, by Dale Wasserman, Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh. Man of La Mancha is based on Miguel de Cervantes’ tale, Don Quixote.
We encounter historical author Miguel de Cervantes in prison, awaiting trial by the Inquisition. When his fellow prisoners try to take Cervantes’ belongings from him, including his manuscript, Cervantes proposes a trial in which he proves the merit of the manuscript through a reenactment, enlisting his fellow prisoners as characters in his play. Together, they tell the story of the aged Alonso Quijana who believes himself to be a knight errant, names himself Don Quixote, and pursues an obsessive quest to attain an impossible dream.
Production dates for Man of La Mancha will be December 7, 8,14, 15, 21, 22, 23,28, 29. 30. January 3, 4 and 5, 2019. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. on Fridays & Saturdays, and 2:00 p.m. on TWO Sunday matinees on December 23 and 30. Tickets are $30.00 for reserved seating. Students and Military personnel with ID will be admitted for $25.00.
On Thursday, December 6, Senior Citizens are invited to a free dress rehearsal at 8:00 p.m. Thursday December 13 at 8:00 p.m. is TheatreWorks’ Pay-What-You-Want night where you name the price of your ticket. For these two Thursday performances, tickets are available on a first come first serve basis, seating is unreserved and doors open at 7 pm.
