“Proof” Comes to TheatreWorks TheatreWorks New Milford Opens David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize-Winning Drama Next Friday

NEW MILFORD , CONN. (Feb 8, 2018) – On Friday, February 16th, TheatreWorks New Milford will premiere David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize winning drama, Proof. The curtain rises at 8:00 p.m. every Friday and Saturday for a four-week run.

Proof is a witty and compassionate exploration of a young woman’s journey of self-discovery. Having spent years caring for her father, a brilliant mathematician who suffered from devastating mental deterioration, Catherine wonders whether she’s now embodying his complex legacy…equal parts genius and instability.

Director Frank Arcaro states that “Despite the play [being firmly rooted] in universal themes, Catherine can be seen today as a figure in an ongoing conversation about gender inequality in the fields of math and science. With a decidedly light hand, Proof considers the subtle ways in which women’s capabilities in those fields often face unwarranted skepticism.”

The cast features Anna Fagan of Stamford, Daniel Basiletti of Brewster, NY, Carey Van Hollen of Southbury and Viv Berger of Middlebury.

Proof runs February 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, March 2. 3. 4. 9, 10. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays, with a 2:00 p.m. Sunday matinee on March 4. Tickets for all shows are $25 for reserved seating. Students and Military personnel with ID will be admitted for $20.

On Thursday, February 15, Senior Citizens are invited to a free dress rehearsal at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22 at 8:00 p.m. is TheatreWorks’ Pay-What-You-Want night. At this performance, you name the price for your ticket. Reservations for all other performances can be made online at theatreworks.us or by calling the box office at (860) 350-6863.
