TheatreWorks Holds Casting Call for Christopher Durang’s “Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge” September 29 and 30, 2008, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

NEW MILFORD, CONN. (September 12, 2008) – TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking a cast of six men and six women — aged 20 to 60-plus — for its upcoming holiday comedy, MRS. BOB CRATCHIT’S WILD CHRISTMAS BINGE, by award-winning playwright Christopher Durang.

In this outrageously funny parody of “A Christmas Carol,” author Christopher Durang (“Beyond Therapy,” “Sister Mary Ignatius Tells It All to You”) focuses one of Dickens’ most insignificant characters — poor Bob Cratchit’s wife. One day she flips, takes to drink, and tries to throw herself off a bridge, when she runs headlong into the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, as well as the curmudgeonly Ebenezer Scrooge. But this time around it seems that something is wrong with the Ghosts’ mystic powers, putting Scrooge and Mrs. Bob on a hilarious collision course with other Christmas classics such as “It’s a Wonderful Life,” The Gift of the Magi,” and many more. In spite of all this mayhem, MRS. BOB CRATCHIT’S WILD CHRISTMAS BINGE is safe and fun for the whole family.

Auditions will be held at TheatreWorks, 5 Brookside Ave., New Milford (next to the CVS) on Monday, September 29 and Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

English accents are required for most roles and singing experience is preferred. MRS. BOB CRATCHIT’S WILD CHRISTMAS BINGE is under the direction of Beth Bonnabeau-Harding of New Milford.

All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. No appointments are necessary. TheatreWorks offers a stipend to all performers, technicians, and directors. For character breakdowns and directions, visit: WWW.THEATREWORKS.US/ACTORS.

Rehearsals start in October with performances beginning December 5 and running through December 31 on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.

TheatreWorks is an award-winning, professional non-Equity theatre company located on 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.
