TheatreWorks Holds Casting Call for “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” March 21 and 22, 7:00 – 9:00pm
NEW MILFORD, CONN. (March 8, 2011) – TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking a cast of 3 men – ages 25 to 50 and 6 women – ages 22 to 55 – for its upcoming production, THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL, with Music and Lyrics by David Nehls and book by Betsy Kelso.
Set in the fictional town of Starke Florida, in the Armadillo Acres trailer park, THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARKMUSICAL centers around regular guy Norbert and his agoraphobic wife, Jeannie, whose marriage is threatened by Armadillo Acres’ newest resident – a hot young stripper named Pippi. This hilarious country-rock and blues musical about adultery, ’80s nostalgia, spray cheese, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, a broken electric chair, kleptomania, strippers, flan, and disco is an absolute hootenanny of a show.
Auditions will be held at TheatreWorks, 5 Brookside Ave., New Milford (next to the CVS) on Monday, March 21 and Tuesday, March 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The production is under the direction of Glenn R. Couture and the musical direction of Dan Ringuette.
Auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing at least 32 bars of a fully memorized Broadway-style musical selection (preferably one that is rock music or country pop) that showcases their vocal range. An accompanist will be provided. Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. Please do NOT prepare songs from THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL, ones that involve a cappella singing, or instrumentals on CD, Tape, iPod, MP3 Player or digital recorder please. If auditioners are called back, dance auditions will be held Tuesday March 22 at 8:30 p.m.
All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. No appointments are necessary. TheatreWorks offers a stipend to all performers, technicians, and directors. For audition sides, character breakdowns, and directions, visit: WWW.THEATREWORKS.US/ACTORS or e-mail INFO@THEATREWORKS.US with questions.
