TheatreWorks New Milford Announces Spring After-School Program for Kids and Teens Sign-Ups Going on Now; Program Starts March 15
NEW MILFORD, CONN. (February 19, 2008) – TheatreWorks New Milford is now accepting applications from young thespians for the THEATREWORKS KIDS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM for spring 2008. This theatrical workshop is offered to budding young performers between the ages of 5 and 17 and runs for eight weeks. The schedule includes a 45-minute skills class once-a-week after school (Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays) as well as nine three-hour rehearsals on Saturdays.
The program concludes on a high note in May when the After School Performers will present their production of BROADWAY THEIR WAY. This production gives participants the opportunity to perform songs from popular Broadway musicals, such as WICKED, CHICAGO, and THE PRODUCERS. They will also become familiar with legendary composers and choreographers such as Stephen Sondheim and Bob Fosse. The eight-week program will culminate in a “Broadway-style” review that will consist of four performances for the public.
TheatreWorks Kids After School is under the direction of children’s theater instructor, Beth Bonnabeau-Harding. Ms. Bonnabeau-Harding is best known for her work in regional children’s theatre and as the instructor for the highly acclaimed TheatreWorks Kids Programs, which run all year round.
Class size is limited and scheduled on a first-come, first serve basis. The program ends on a high note when the performers hold four performances for the public on Friday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. Enrollment is $360 per child. Siblings will be admitted at $299 per child.
Plus, there’s a special for TheatreWorks Kids alumni: students who have been through TheatreWorks Kids Programs in 2007 only can gain admittance for just $330 ($299 for siblings).
